  1. I am trying to make the user be able to sort the gallery and not just the admin...I think for any gallery with many images, this is kind of must, so the user can see the most relevant images for himself...

Well I haven't had much lucky on the question.. :( Could you please help me in anyway on this matter? Thanks.

  2. Mike,

I'd recommend using Tags. Sorting will only take you so far since it can only be alphabetical, time based, or number based.

Using tags is by far the best way for letting your users find what they want.

Additionally, PhotoSmash Extend (http://smashly.net/photosmash-galleries/extend/) has an Extended Navigation module which lets you do multiple tags in tandem...and maybe the best unknown feature...Searching of your images!

    Cheers,
    Byron

  3. Thanks for the quick reply :)

I understand what you mean (the tag search is super super powerful! :))but I was thinking about user sorting by "Rating" and "When Uploaded (descending or ascending)". This way the user can find the "most recent", the "oldest" and the "best rated" images without being necessary to have 2 galleries on the post, one set with sort set as "when uploaded" and the other set as the "best rated".

For example: If i have a gallery for "what is happening in NY?" with 1000 images and just show 20 per page, I would probably set the gallery sort for "when uploaded" so user know the freshness of the images. But by this way finding the "best rated" would be a boring task, being necessary to look every page and every image to find it...

The only way now to go around that is to have 2 galleries in the post, one set to when uploaded and the other set to best rated, but since they are the "same" gallery with just a different sorting, it seems to me to be a waste of space, coding and Kb to load the post...

Sorry writing so much, I hope I don't make you tired.... but this is just in my opinion the last "major" feature for PS and Ps Extend when the user interaction with the gallery :). So do you think that has a way to achieve that? :) Cheers

  4. It definitely makes to sense to put user sorting in there. It's now on the list!
