  1. Hi Byron,

I have installed the latest release of Wordpress 3.0 and activated the multisite functionality. I have then activated via 'Network Activated'. However, i have an error message in the back end of each new multisite.

"PhotoSmash Database - Needs to be Updated
The PhotoSmash database is missing field: geolat in table: wp_3_bwbps_images.

Update required. Click here to Update the DB and view Plugin Info."

  2. Hi Dean,

That is the standard check to insure that the Database was updated to the latest version. One thing to check would be going into Plugin Info and run the Database Update. (You've probably already tried it). But you might see some other indicators in there.

I really have no idea what might be going on as I've never tried the Multi-site features in MU or 3.0. Could it be something with the database prefix? Are there different prefixes is Multi-site?

    BB

  3. Hi Byron, thank you for your reply.

I have a feeling this is a subject that may get asked a lot due to the MU and Wordpress merging together. If i can help i will certainly try and resolve it.

    Well here goes...

unfortunately all the tables are missing when you look in the admin panel form a new user:

    Database Info

    Tables:
    o wp_3_bwbps_images: Exists - was missing...update run successfully
    o wp_3_bwbps_galleries: Exists - was missing...update run successfully
    o wp_3_bwbps_layouts: Exists - was missing...update run successfully
    o wp_3_bwbps_forms: Exists - was missing...update run successfully
    o wp_3_bwbps_fields: Exists - was missing...update run successfully
    o wp_3_bwbps_lookup: Exists - was missing...update run successfully

However, it looks like when i visit this page everything is updated. So whatever happens when you view this page fixes the problems. The 'mu-functions.php' is where new default scripts are activated when new blogs are created. i.e extra pages. BTW, my prefix as seen above is wp_, i just cant figure out why it wouldnt activate when a new blog is created. :-s

  4. Good to know, but a bit of a pain. If there is something I can do to make that smooth out for MS users, let me know.

So, just for clarification, visiting the Plugin Info page fixes the database problem for new blogs on a Multi-Site setup?

    Thanks for keeping us updated!

    BB

  5. Hi Byron,

    yes that is correct :-)

With the new system, after doing an initial MultiSite setup, a 'Network activate' button is available which means plugins are automatically activated when a user registers. Much easier than previous. However, some MU plugins work but to be honest with such a fundamental upgrade i shall be waiting for more compatible versions.

  6. Any news on the latest development for the release?

will your latest upgrade be Wordpress 3.0 compliant in regards to the issues above?

  7. Dean,

The latest releases Beta is out in the Development version on WP, but I don't think that will fix the problem.

It would be nice if there were a hook that I could trigger the Init on for the Network Activate. There probably is, but I'll have to research to find out how to use it.

Let me know if you know how it's done or can point me in the direction. I'll put it in as soon as I figure it out.

    Thanks,
    BB

  8. Hi Byron,

    Thank you for the reply.

I know that a file called ms-functions.php in '/include' contains script that is fired when new users creates blogs. It sets up default pages, posts etc. I'm not sure if there is a hook in there but is there some code that would replicate the repair. I'm aware that this page is only used when new blogs are created so there is no chance of it mis-firing for other instances.
