I cannot find any reason why rating and voting should not be working in my gallery, but when a viewer tries to either rate or vote, depending on what method I have active, it returns the error "voting failed" to the user. Is there a dependency that I could be missing, or is it possible that I missed something in setup?

There is a bug...it's been fixed in the next version ( available in the Development version on WP now: http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/photosmash-galleries.zip ).
The problem is that the comment field in the imageratings table is set to NOT NULL...it's not being specified in the Insert, so it's bombing on certain setups.
Hopefully we'll be out of beta soon...this site is running the beta.
