  1. What's the word on this being ready? I've seen the examples of having each photo uploaded to an independent post for commenting. This is something I'm really interested in doing.

  2. Hi Spudder,

It is ready with 2 features: 1) Creating posts on upload - features include: adding the image as the new WP 2.9 Post Thumbnail, tagging the posts and photos with tags, also allows setting categories. 2) Inserting html blocks into galleries...good for inserting ads into a gallery.

I haven't yet figured out how, or if, I want to promote the plugin, as PhotoSmash keeps me plenty busy. There is a fee for the plugin. If you're interested, send me an email at byron @ whypad . com and I will send you the details.

    Cheers,

  3. Your basic plugin looks great, but I am intrigued by the Extend option. I have recently set up a website for relatives on my mother's side, the Gureasko family (www.gureasko.com). We have a genealogy, lots of emails about famiy history, and a smattering of photos that have been uploaded to Picasa or Flickr.

It looks like your plugin will allow family members to add photos on their own (lightening my admin chores), and allow galleries to be set up. However, the thing that excites me is the option for the photos to be tagged (for example, with a person's name, such as Ruth, my mother) and for a family member / visitor to use a search box and type in "Ruth" and see photos that have Ruth in them. If this is built into the plugin, great...and if it's only available with the Extend option then I'll probably ask someone in the family to donate the $25 (I think that's what one of your protected posts mentions is the cost).

Can you please confirm if this functionality is available in either the free plugin or the paid Extend option, and also confirm the price and how one can get access to the Extend plugin?

Many thanks (in advance) for what looks like excellent work!

  4. Eric, if you're just wanting tags, then the free PhotoSmash is all you need. You would need Extend if you wanted to Search on tags and show a gallery based on searches. But most people don't really need that.

Regular PhotoSmash gives you a widget that can have a tag cloud of your tagged images.

    cheers,

  5. I am interested in giving people an opportunity to search on tags to get a gallery view based on images that have those tags. With the tag cloud, can one click on any tag in the cloud and get a gallery view? Or does that require Extend?

By the way, with Extend can you do a search on multiple tags - for example, images with tags "Ruth" and "Jack" to see pictures that show both Ruth and Jack?

    Thanks,
    Eric

  6. Hi Eric,

Yes, the clicking a tag on the Tag Cloud gives you a gallery view (based on whatever layout you choose - standard or custom) of all the images containing that Tag. Extend is not needed for that.

Search is only "AND" at this time...it looks for all images that contain all of the search terms in one of the searched fields - caption, url, attribution, tag, or user login. So, if you searched on: Ruth Jack, it would only show images that have both Ruth AND Jack in those fields (it could be Ruth in the Caption and Jack in the Tag, but it'd have to have both). At some point, I could implement an Option for OR.
