  1. I got a warning today that my CPU load is high and they will shut down my websites if it isn't corrected. I contacted my host and they are saying that is is because of a plugin on CornsnakeMorphGallery.com and the loading of prototype.js. I receive roughly 2,500 unique visitors to this particular website a month.

They pointed me to this link: http://www.code-styling.de/english/wordpress-261-loads-too-many-scriptaculous-components

Since I'm not the developer of PhotoSmash, I thought it better to provide the information to the plugin developer himself so it can be remedied. ;)

  2. Here is specifically what my host said:

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting our Technical Support Department.

Script with most hits is a java plug in that can cause a lot of load.

It would be best to have the plug in disabled for some time and perform optimization tests, also check the wordpress support community at :

    Best Regards,

  3. Hey tripmoons...PhotoSmash doesn't use or load prototype.js or scriptaculous.js. It's strictly jquery for PhotoSmash. Maybe there's some other plugin developer that you should be talking to?

  4. Just a couple of thoughts on what might be the issue...it's probably Lightbox 2 (I think lightbox uses prototype). Not sure if Contact Forms 7 uses it or not. I use shadowbox js and that will use jquery if available (which it is with PhotoSmash).

    Cheers,
    Byron

  5. So if I just install Shadowbox it should cease with the High CPU? When I have some time I'll test it out and follow up here.

  6. Hopefully so, if they're telling you that loading prototype is the problem. The other thing you could do is just use Thickbox. That was one of your suggestions from some time ago, which I implemented. There a setting on first tab of Gallery Settings and PhotoSmash Settings for "Image link (href) css class:". Set it to 'thickbox' to use Thickbox as your viewer. That way, you don't even load Shadowbox or one of the other lightbox clones. It was a good suggestion, especially since Thickbox is already being loaded for the forms!
