Hi Byron, thanks again for the help-

I ended up choosing the Shopp (paid) plugin instead of WP-Ecommerce, even with your plugin disabled, WP-Ecommerce was giving me some problems, you get what you pay for I guess.

Hi Brendan,

I don't think there is, not without some major changing of the way eCommerce does stuff or the way PhotoSmash does. You might try NextGEN and see if you have any better luck.

Sorry,

I'm doing a site for a client and the 2 features that are absolutely essential are the gallery and store components. Getting desperate here as I can't find a way to get this to work.

Hmmm.... I just uploaded a new gallery, and put in custom titles for it, next to the field with the red * by it. I saved my gallery, went to view it, and sure enough it's still just showing the file name under it. :(

Hi SB,

Glad you're liking PhotoSmash!

1) I think you can fix your titles by going into Photo Manager and editing the Caption field there. Just edit your gallery, then edit the caption fields...you'll have to save each one individually.

2) Unfortunately, the thickbox only picks up the image links that are on the page (the other views like Shadowbox work the same).

Hope that helps,
Byron

Hi, Ive made a site around wordpress and downloaded photosmash as a plugin.

We are absolutely LOVING Photosmash, its fantastic!

The site is music entertainment based therefore, we have a gallery for different bands who we have photographed.

to be able to distinguish between them, we make a new gallery for each band we post, then we link the gallery to a post on our "Gallery" page.

However there are a couple of issues we are having and ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

1. We are unable to edit the title of our images. we upload the photos from the computer and for eg the photo is called "DSC1011" that is the title that comes when you hover over the photo. It also shows up as the caption and after clicking on "No Caption" several times it still shows up.
We want to either remove the hover-title and caption, or be able to change the name of the photos so that the caption and over-title match.

I tried going into Media Library and editing each and every photo. For example, all of the photos in 'The Amity Affliction' album. I edited every photos for the title and alternative text to appear as "The Amity Affliction". I would want all of the photos in each gallery to have the same name according to the band displayed.

2. The second thing, i dont know whether its just the way Photosmash is, or something we've done, but when we display 8 photos to a page, and look at pictures in the thickbox version, is there anyway to link the pages so that when people get to the 8th picture of that page it continues to say "next" rather than having to click out of the thickbox and then having to click on page 2?

Like i said we are LOVING photosmash its realllly increased the quality of our site!

Any advice/help would be brilliant!

Please feel free to have a look at the site! Thankyou

byron on "Thickbox Issue, Redux"

If the thickbox JS file is being loaded (and it should be if you have wp_footer(); in your footer.php file), then the likely reason it wouldn't be working is it might not be in the class attribute in the link to the big images. If you do a view source on your gallery, you should be able to tell if it is there or not.

If you add new galleries, it is possible that they will not have the thickbox in the class unless you have the PhotoSmash Settings page set right. So, you could check the galleries in Gallery Settings to make sure they have the class set to thickbox.

If all that is ok, then do a view source and make sure that the link it has to the thickbox.js file actually works to return the file.

It was working fine - and its ok not - just not using the fancy schmancy thickbox that it was using before.

Multisite is tricky. Others have gotten PhotoSmash to work with it here before, but its peculiarities make it not fun. A lot of times it is better to just go with separate WordPress installs if you are only running a few separate sites.

So, to your current problem...multisite creates a new set of WordPress tables for each separate site. It probably includes separate plugin tables for PhotoSmash and other plugins. So you might have to set up the galleries in each separate site. You can't share galleries across sites. That was one of the things somebody else bumped into.

Oh, hellaroni! Everything was working wonderfully with Photosmash and the tweaks you helped me make. BUT, on Christmas Eve I added multisite functionality to my site which reset / changed photosmash settings and thickbox refuses to work again. I have tried nearly every combo of settings and re-reading what you told me before ... all to no avail.

Any advice?

Byron, Thanks so much for all of your work and guidance on this! Wow! I feel a little dumb because I didn't realize I was using a "custom layout" ... on the Photosmash Default Settings where it said "Gallery Viewer Page" I simply used the dropdown to select a page for the gallery - which is what I thought I had to do.

And, I really don't want visitors to have a lot of options ... just select a gallery and upload.

The code above ... do I drop that onto the Gallery page that I made?

I did some further work on this...here's some code for the custom layout that should hopefully show both the Thickbox (if it's set in Gallery Settings) and link to the Contributor Gallery (one of your other questions -- if you have Gallery Settings configured to link there). This code should use the Links that get built based on your Gallery Settings...the current code manually builds the links, which is why it doesn't work. So, follow the tutorials on how to edit a Custom layout and try this code:

The layout you're looking for is: gallery_veiw_layout...

<li class='psgal_[gallery_id]'>
	<div class='bwbps_image bwbps_relative'>
 [thumb]
[ps_rating]
	</div>
	<div style='clear: both;'>
 [full_caption]
	</div>
</li>

You can edit Custom Layouts...here are 2 tutorials on that:

http://smashly.net/photosmash-galleries/how-to/create-custom-layouts/

It could be the fact that you're using the Gallery Viewer, which has uses custom layouts...take a look at the those tutorials on Custom Layouts and you can modify the gallery_viewer_layout to have class='thickbox' in the url that it is linking to.

The trouble with the custom layouts is that there are TOO MANY OPTIONS....and depending on how they are set up, they behave differently and may or may not respond to the settings in your gallery settings.

I think you just need to set "Image link (href) css class" in Gallery Settings to: "thickbox"

Hopefully that fixes it.

I have read other instances of the thickbox not working for peeps. I believe that the particular theme AND the fact I am using BuddyPress are conflicting with the function. But I can't be certain ... and there really isn't a way around using the theme and BuddyPress. It would be nice to get thickbox working. Any ideas on where I should look to fix this?

Secondarily, I figured I'd set images to open in a new window for the time being, but alas that too is not working.
