I want to limit the number of characters that can be entered in a custom field (description)on a custom form so that the description doesn't get cut off on the display. How would I do that?

Thanks!

Hi there Byron - you were really helpful a month ago -and go me out of a stick problem. I have another question and am hoping you can help again! (or anyone else that may be able to?)

Background:
1) Website is a not-for-profit site for local artists to advertise their 'gigs'. (beta is here: http://mywebdots.com/clients/elephantbean/wp/)
2) Users upload their GIG poster - using custom fields.
3) Visitors can then browse website to see what's on in any given month.

Question:
We want visitors to also visit a page that shows ONLY posters that go with a VENUE. (eg: GIGS BY VENUE) (one of the custom fields in the upload image form). - Can't get it working....can you perhaps point me in the right direction. I've played around endlessly with the custom layouts etc - but to no avail.

(Byron - I previously emailed my login details to you on Sept 23 or 24 - depending on what hemisphere you're in)

Cheers
Katie (mywebdots)

hi there! so in doing some random testing, i found that my google analytics outbound link tracking isn't working on links inside the photosmash custom fields. not sure why, but i was wondering if there was a way to add the javascript to the links? basically what would need to happen is that any time a link appeared in the custom field, it added a onclick javascript event that we can specify.

let me know if that was confusing! thanks!

I was wondering, is there a way that some user entered custom fields be added with every picture, and can be shown when it is uploaded.

many thanks.

Hi, I am hoping to work this into the template I am building but as far as I can tell you can only call a gallery using the shortcode in the html editor. The way my template is, it is all broken up with a bunch of custom fields (actually "magic" fields) displaying different bits in their own little frame. To work with this layout I would need to keep Photosmash separate from the main post content. Is there a way to call the gallery id in another way than the shortcode in the main HTML editor?

Thanks for all of your work on this Byron. It is really one of the best plugins out there :)

fantastic plugin, thanks for the work.
i'm looking for a possibility to define a 'gallery' custom field while uploading multiple pictures.
e.g. all pictures are taken at the same location and the uploading user has to give that information once, perhaps after that the custom field is added to all pictures of that specific upload.

(Sorry for being a pain in the butt lately... I promise to go away someday.) ;)

I have another tag related issue: I'm trying to use a different field other than [caption] as the post title within Extend. I made a custom field called [mickey_title] that I wanted to use, but it looks like it won't take custom fields in the "alternating layout" box.

It DOES work if I use one of your tags like [date_added] or [blog_name]. Any suggestions?

Hello,
Just found this plugin and really like it!

How can I reference custom fields so that I can include them in the popup (I'm using thickbox) after clicking a thumbnail?

For instance... including a description, price, etc below the image caption

on line 1756 of bwb-photosmash.php, I modified the code to read:
(my custom field is image_description)

if($img){
$imgtitle = str_replace("'","",$img['image_caption']);
$imgdesc = str_replace("'","",$img['image_description']);
$imgtext = $imgtitle.' - '.$imgdesc;
$ret = "<img src='".PSIMAGESURL.$img['file_name']."'".$img['imgclass'] ."alt='".$imgtext."' />";
}

No success, though. Any ideas?

First, Thanks for what looks to be a great plugin. I'm planning a user-community/CMS using wordpress and determining how I will accomplish my goals with plugins/coding. I couldn't find the answers to my questions in the "documentation" so I'm asking here for myself and probably others.

1. Can I create a template file like "category123.php" that shows thumbnails of all galleries with links to the gallery page/post?

2. What options are available in creating custom fields and how is data displayed from those fields in the gallery? is EXIF data available?

3. I was able to add a photo in the demo as a non-registered user. Is that possible with Photosmash?

4. Until you get a slideshow, I intended to use Wordpress Gallery Slideshow plugin. Are you aware of any conflicts.

5. I know I'd need to program this myself, but is Photosmash built on a base that would let me store my images at Flickr/Photobucket. Do you think it would be possible to "transfer" images and associated information to Flickr (using their API) upon approval at the moderation step and then delete from local server on success?

Ideally I want to create categorized pools of images which users can contribute to that is hosted at Flickr/Photobucket and has both gallery and slideshow views through Lightbox. Would be nice to get some EXIF data and map the photos. You've built what looks like a great foundation for this.
