Hi Byron, thanks again for the help-

I ended up choosing the Shopp (paid) plugin instead of WP-Ecommerce, even with your plugin disabled, WP-Ecommerce was giving me some problems, you get what you pay for I guess.

Hi Brendan,

I don't think there is, not without some major changing of the way eCommerce does stuff or the way PhotoSmash does. You might try NextGEN and see if you have any better luck.

Sorry,

Hi Nifty,

Not sure what might be going on there. You may be able to accomplish everything you need with just PhotoSmash (it has a form system built into it as well).

I noticed that you've got an error on your homepage (you might be in the middle of something, but thought I'd mention it)...it's not finding the get_header() function.

Hopefully the TDO folks can give you some guidance on what might be causing the issue with uploads.

Cheers,

Ok, after boosting memory it seems like the problem is not size, but perhaps to do with dimensions or resizing. I was able to upload a 700k file but not a 400k file.

This is the file that uploaded ok using PhotoSmash:
http://gigglebox.org/storysubmission/tellusyourstory/IT-Dept-05.jpg

This is the one that I couldn't upload with Photosmash, but was able to upload via the WP media admin:
http://gigglebox.org/storysubmission/tellusyourstory/430-Tree7.jpg

This is only a problem when TDO Mini forms is active, so I'm thinking maybe I need to switch off any image uploading stuff in TDO mini forms. I'll drop Mark a note and see what he says.

Thats awesome Byron! Thanks for finding that...

I did see those errors in FireBug actually, but I don't know enough about what they mean to do anything about it... so I wasn't sure.

I'm going to look at the documentation and see if I can figure it out, but I have also passed this information along to the theme creator. Hopefully I will receive some assistance once I hear back from him.

Again, thank you for your help in resolving this conflict.

UPDATE:
I was actually seeing 3 documents that were conflicting...

themes/echoes/js/common.js
themes/echoes/js/fadeinout.js
themes/echoes/js/loopslider/loopslider-custom.js

So I just did a Find "$" and Replace "jQuery" in all 3 of those documents and it resolved the issue.
Just wanted to let you know. Thanks.

Ok, so I think the problem is that theme (or the plugins it is using) is trying to use jQuery with $ function alias instead of using the noConflict protocols that WordPress loads jQuery under.

Firebug (a great plugin for FireFox to help you debug your javascript and CSS) reports this error:

$ is not a function

$(document).ready(function(){ (in 2 places: http://bestphotoyet.com/wp-content/themes/echoes/js/fadeinout.js?ver=3.0.1 and http://bestphotoyet.com/wp-content/themes/echoes/js/common.js?ver=3.0.1 )

Here is the WordPress documentation on the problem:

http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_enqueue_script
Search for the section called: "jQuery noConflict wrappers"

Here's the jQuery documentation:
http://docs.jquery.com/Using_jQuery_with_Other_Libraries

Thanks Byron. I actually did see that post and looked around a bit, but nothing seemed like it was related to my issue.

Forgive the site lol... it's just recently installed and I haven't even really got it setup, so by no means is it even started :P

The themes feature slider works great until I activate Photosmash... then it does what it's doing now...

This is the page that slide links to
http://bestphotoyet.com/?p=18

Thanks again for your help. I also, emailed the theme creator to see if they can assist in any way to get these two compatible.

Photosmash is such a great plugin.. thanks!

But I'm having trouble and I don't know if anyone can help. On the default WP theme it works no problem. When I switch to the Echoes theme, my featured posts image links on my homepage no longer load... I just get a spinning loading wheel.

This is the Echoes theme demo page
http://echoes.imaginemthemes.com/wp/
**I'm not using the accordion style... I'm using an alternate display that only shows one feature at at a time and then it slides the next one in**

I tried using a photo that was on a completely different server as my feature image, but it didn't change anything... still just a spinning loading wheel.

I'm sure it's conflict with the theme, but does anyone use this theme or have an idea of what I can do to begin to isolate the problem? I bought this theme and really want to use it with photosmash... and even if I go with another theme, I don't know if there will be conflicts with that theme as well.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Annette,
Thanks for the kind words!

If you can repeatedly upload 200kb images, but not larger, it sounds like you are running out of memory when WordPress resizes the images. This operation requires a lot more memory than just the size of the image.

Open up the Plugin Info page (it's in the PhotoSmash admin menu on the left sidebar), and look for:

"PHP Memory Limit"...WordPress is recommending that that be 256M. If it is less, you might see if your host can boost that up for you.

Also look at your "Memory usage" on that page...it should normally be less than 20M.

Hope that helps,

Hello,

Thanks for this brilliant plugin!
I'm hoping to use it in combo with TDO mini forms to allow visitors post stories with photos.

Here's the test page I'm working with:

http://gigglebox.org/storysubmission/went-away-then-came-back/

Here's my problem:

- despite setting the image upload limit to 1.5mb i can only seem to upload files up to 200k. larger files get the upload error:
"Image upload failed. Your image may have been too large or there may have been another problem. Please reload the page and try again."

- the problem goes away when I deactivate TDO mini forms
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/tdo-mini-forms/

Could it be jquery conflict even though smaller images can be uploaded?

Any tips much appreciated.

Thanks,

Yes, someone else just came across the same thing...they're loading jQuery improperly. You can either edit their code or ask them to switch to the recommended use of wp_enqueue_script

Here are articles describing the process...I think it's problem #1: http://smashly.net/community/topic/cant-upload-images-add-photo-link-doesnt-work

Thanks Byron, ive already looked at the helpful article... it was helpful and i already attempted removing what called to that jquery, yet my lightbox stopped working :/

Its not related to the superfish i dont think, because my navigation was still working well, but my lightbox completely stopped working when i removed...

any ideas on how to combine?

Hi BBM,

Looks like jquery is being added in by your theme, causing the conflict:

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://srh.builtbymedia.com/wp-content/themes/ColdStone/inc/jquery-1.2.6.min.js"></script>

Could be related to superfish, but maybe not...

Here's some links to helpful articles: http://smashly.net/community/topic/cant-upload-images-add-photo-link-doesnt-work

Looks like problem #1.

Cheers,

Hi Byron

It is solved now. Yes, were some more issues and fixing those I've fixed also this one. I am new in jQuery, I worked more in MooTools but anyway I am not so advanced in JavaScript to understand quickly. Good to know about multiple loading of jQuery...

Thanks for your intervention and greetings for the PhotoSmash plugin. Is awesome. I did tried before with NextGen and didn't like it because the voting use direct link, no ajax, so keeps me more on page loading.

Once again, good job.

Hi Ciprian,

It looks like you've got it working. That problem usually means that wp_footer() or wp_header() is missing from footer.php or header.php. Or that jQuery is being loaded multiple times. It looks like you've commented out one of the jQuery loads.

Let me know if you're still seeing problems.

Cheers,

I've installed photosmash on modernism.ro and I've inserted the first gallery here but it seems photosmash has some conflicts or something because firebug tells me jQyery('#psstar-1-1').psrating is not a function so I cannot rate anything.

Can you please give me some help?

Thnaks in advance,

Hope things will be still ok...

Okoth,

I'm not sure why that happens. Something must be causing the Upload Form to fire when it shouldn't. I've seen this with a couple of different plugins, primarily ones that utilize the jquery.forms.js script, but I can't figure why.

If anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears.
