Well I reduced it to strictly [photosmash id=##] and it showed the option for uploading right above it. But then when I checked it in Safari it was not there? And after a few more refreshes in Firefox it dissapeared as well? Any ideas?

Hi tiwyj,
Try adding form=std to your shortcode. It needs that if you tell it no_gallery.

Hope that helps,

First this is an amazing program. I have searched for this exact one for a while, and for some reason missed it before! Thanks!

But my problem lies within allowing users to upload pictures. I have watched the tutorials and seached the forums, but I cannot find the answer. I have added the gallery on the page I wanted to, but it will not show the "add new photo" option. I can add through the Plugin, but I cannot see it on a page. Even when I add [photosmash id=## no_gallery=true form_visible=true](I put 11 for the ## signifying that gallery I want to upload to) to another page it won't show. Do you have any ideas? Maybe the JQuerry is affecting it because of my theme and I am SOL? My coding knowledge is limited, but I tried to decipher that post and see if it affected me with no avail :/

Any thoughts?(I have it set up on the menu bar under "PhotoSmash" and "uploaderrr"

Thanks

Ok got the upload working. I had to delete and re-create the Upload folder and then make sure your
media upload path does not have a leading slash. ie 'wp-content/uploads/' I hope this helps a few others who may have had this problem.

Thanks Byron
I rechecked everything and found in fact that it was my cforms plugin causing the problem with the form.
I upgraded my cforms from 11.3 - 11.7 which fixes it. I still cannot upload files though. I can't even upload media directly in wordpress. It seems others have had a similar problem post wordpress upgrades.
Have you encountered this yourself?
I will investigate further.

Hi rmoore,

With Firebug, I'm showing an error, but can't figure out where it's coming from.

jQuery(domChunk).live is not a function

That's a normal line, so it looks like the jQuery is blowing up for some reason that I can't tell.

Have you tried switching to the default theme to see if that fixes it? At least you could narrow it down to a theme issue since you've already gone down the plugins route.

Cheers,
Byron

New to photosmash and would appreciate a bit of help.
I have a blank gallery displayed on a page and initially had the add photo link displayed. On clicking the link i got a 404 page not found error. I tried the suggested fix for this on the forums ie header and footer code, disabling plugins but without success.
I then tried permanently displaying the form by adding to the shortcode '[photosmash form_visible=true]' The form displayed ok. I then went back a step and removed the visible true command. Now even with just photosmash as the code the form displays all the time. I even tried creating a new page and adding photosmash - the form still displays all the time. I tried deleting my browser cache a few times and my wordpress cache. How can i get the add photo link back and working correctly
My second problem is that when i try and upload a file from the permanent form i get a progress bar which completes but no image is uploaded.
I loaded up Firebug and no errors seem to exists.
I would be grateful if you could take a look at my page.

Hi Byron,

Is there a way so that if the user is not logged in (so the Add Photo is not visibile) a Log In link is there instead? I want any visitors to the site that arrive on the page to know they can upload photos on that page, instead of not seeing anything.

Thanks for any help on this.

Hi PJ,
No problem...technically, the Std_Widget layout classifies as a custom layout, so you can edit it.

This link will get you started in editing the layout: http://smashly.net/photosmash-galleries/how-to/create-custom-layouts/

So, just select Std_Widget from the drop down in the Layout Editor and edit that. You'll find the Wrapper field as you scroll down the screen. If you put this in the Wrapper field, hopefully it will fix it for you:

<div style='clear: both;'>[gallery]</div>

Thanks Byron - working hard on it.

I apologize for keeping you on this, but I cannot seem to pin this little positioning issue down. I do not think the layout is custom (?), and I cannot find a field for "Wrapper". Although I have located 'bwbps_addphoto_link' in the PHP, I cannot find the span class in the CSS and it seems it won't let me control it in the way the pagination CSS did - although this would be ideal!

I am using the following settings:

Gallery type:	Photo Gallery
Display using Layout:	Std_Widget

Ok, it looks like you're using a custom layout, so the thing to do would be to edit that layout, and in the Wrapper field, put:

<div style='clear: both;'>[gallery]</div>

Hi PJ,
You probably need a

clear: both !important;

on one of the Divs. Unfortunately, I don't have access to Firebug at the moment, so can't look myself.

If you're using Firebug, you can try adding the clear: both on different elements to see if you can fix it.

hope that helps,

I run TheRockyRiver.com, which uses PhotoSmash as the Gallery for allowing readers to upload their photos to the site. In most browsers, the "Add a Photo" link is breaking, forcing the first 3 thumbnails in the top row up, and the link moves down and aligns on the right.

I want it to remain above all of the thumbnails in the gallery, on the upper left, and if possible I'd like to add at least 20px padding between the link and the gallery thumbs. I will settle for just getting it to stay in the upper left without breaking the first row of images.

Here's the link to the page in question: http://therockyriver.com/photo-gallery/

I've scoured the Plugin's code based on Firebug's ID of the CSS, but have found no success. Please help!!!!

i know this answer was posted above by "rradive" with a link, but the link is now dead. so, i thought i'd post a solution i got from byron in an email exchange. i hope it might help someone else down the road.

The easy thing to do here is to use jQuery to move the enclosing element to be a child of another element. So, you'd want to put a script something like this in your page (or post):

<script type='text/javascript'> jQuery(document).ready(function() { jQuery("span.bwbps_addphoto_link").appendTo("#my_new_home");jQuery("span.bwbps-rating-toggle").appendTo("#my_new_toggle_home");});</script>

<div id="my_new_home">
</div>

<div id="my_new_toggle_home">
</div>

That would move all of the Add Photo Links that are in a SPAN with class 'bwbps_addphoto_link' to an element with the ID my_new_home. Same thing for the toggle.

his solution worked for me. hope it helps.

Hi Joe,

Glad you found someone who could get you through the tough stuff.

THose remaining issues sound like something is messing with your CSS in your Admin pages. That is not typical. Perhaps using a different theme would solve it, or perhaps it's another plugin that's loaded. PhotoSmash generally doesn't have that problem in Admin.

I'd recommend switching to the default theme temporarily to see if it is a theme issue. If it is not, you might try temporarily disabling plugins to see if one of theme is causing the issue.

Cheers,
Byron

Hi BB,

Thanks for listening to all of this; I think I'm just not experienced enough with code. Things seem to be working now. I hired a company to fix my blog, and they got it running well (http://www.wefixwp.com/, $100). They seem to have done a good job.

Photosmash is now letting folks upload images. There are two minor remaining Photosmash issues.
1. When I go to general "PhotoSmash Default Settings," the page is too wide; it spills over to the right and covers my dashboard buttons (Appearance, Plugins, Media, etc). It is weird.
2. When I go to the general "PhotoSmash Default Settings" there is no button to save changes; thus, I cannot set any options in the "PhotoSmash Default Settings." But, I can save changes to "Gallery Settings" and "Photo Manager."

Anyway, I'm pleased that visitors can upload. I hope they will be responsible.

Cordially,

Joe,

It sounds like there's something odd, and probably in your server settings. I, unfortunately, am not very familiar with server settings.
