Something I thought of today - as I'm now using photosmash for a personal photo storage and display site...

You know how Facebook lets any logged in user tag themselves in images? It would be awesome if we could do that with Photoshop - ie, tag from a GUI rather than in the manage photos screen.

Just a thought. :)

Hi auphoria,

You can set the maximum size in PhotoSmash Settings / Images/ "Maximum image files size (bytes):"

There is also a video tutorial on image sizes here: http://smashly.net/photosmash-galleries/tutorials/sizing-and-resizing-images/

Hi Chajoe,

Thanks! Yes, there are a number of plugins that were written before certain things occurred in WP and now they don't always play well with others.

There is Voting Up or Down or just Up...so, you could use something like that if you wanted to. But nothing that will force them to vote on each picture. You could probably write some custom Javascript to manage that, but it would probably be pretty involved.

Hope that helps.

First of all, excelent work on this plugin... I was struggling to get it to work on my website, but since I use a bunch of unfriendly plugins like wp ecommerce and alike, I decided to do a fresh WP install without plugins and it works like charm!

I was wondering the possibility to do a hot or not kinda like gallery forcing users to check each picture uploaded and vote for it.. is this possible with photo smash?

this is my site: http://vs.todomimundoacolor.com

Hi,

Thanks for the kind remarks! I try to answer quickly anyway ;-)

1) To get links to open in a new page, in PhotoSmash Settings, look for the "Thumbnail & Caption link targets:" and set those options to checked.

2) In gallery Settings, Edit your gallery and try setting the "Image caption style" to either:

"No caption (thumbs link to WP Attachment Page)"
or
"Caption (thumbs & captions link to WP Attachment Page)"

Another options would be to use a Lightbox or Shadowbox plugin for displaying the full image.

Hello,

First I tried NextGen Gallery beacuse it is so much recommended but I find PhotoSmash much better product. This is not written to get faster replay. ;)

There is one thing I miss in PhotoSmash (or I don't know how to configure it). I would like that image link open new page with full image and all WP menus around. It would be great if bellow image was link back to gallery. It is just not nice to open image in blank page.

You can set galleries to require that a person be logged in (set minimum role = Subscriber in Gallery Settings [edit your gallery] > Uploading). That may do what you're wanting.

hi hueblo! looks like byron got to this before i did. but all i did was set up an attachment.php file in my theme, and then in my photosmash layout, i used byron's shortcodes to add in a "permalink to image" where the hyperlink is to the attachment page.

one thing i'd love to see in a future photosmash release is a shortcode for the number of comments on the attachment, that would make the entire thing work seamlessly, and (bonus) all with existing wordpress functionality! hope that helps.

In the Import Photos panel, I'd love to be able to search for a specific post to fetch images from, rather than having the dropdown only (with over 2,500 posts and 12,000 images it gets quite hairy trying to find what I'm looking for!). Would LOVE it if there was a search box where I could type in part of the post title perhaps?

Good suggestion!

This is probably already possible using a custom layout, but would require hand coding the button. You can include pretty much any html or javascript you want into the image blocks through a custom layout.

If we wanted to do a standard button or two, the question would be which one(s)? Favorites are already built in, but the doesn't lead you to another service...just stays in your site. With the Gallery Viewer feature, it is now possible to have a URL to an individual image without having to create a post (via PhotoSmash Extend) or add it as an Attachment to post.

What specifically did you have in mind?
